Assuming you're running any version of Windows, the easiest thing to do is right-click on an empty part of the desktop, select Properties, then the Settings tab. That should show you what Windows THINKS is your panel. To find out what came from the factory, use this link:

IBM/Lenovo Support

and enter your system type into the Product Number box. System type is on the bottom of the laptop, usually in on a bar code label and is normally in the form of 2xxx-xxx. The system description will tell you what was shipped from the factory. If somebody before you has swapped panels, then Windows should detect it properly. If you think it's wrong, then the only thing you can do is take the panel out and look on the back side for a part number/FRU.

Thanks, Ray
Got it.

One more ? I've open cover for memory and see just one empty slot, is another one under, if I need to change 2 chips, do I need to open the box?

I assume that T42 takes max 2G.

Tx again

I believe that the T4x systems have the factory module underneath the keyboad and the one other memory slot accessible from the bottom panel. Whatever memory you already have in the system can be added to by simply plugging in the proper module in the bottom. For the best information on how to access the module under the keyboard, download this:
