screen goes black, and then returns....?

Whenever i use WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER or visit a website that contains a MOVIE (like an espn clip etc), upon visiting the site my entire screen goes BLACK and the it kind of blink a rough outline of the page, and then the page appears.... THEN when I CLOSE the page, it goes black for a second, and then returns...

This is SO annoying! Does anyone have an idea of why this might be happeneing?
