I recently bought a T41 from a relatively reputable ebay seller and upon powering it up everything works fine and dandy, but the battery is refusing to charge.
Plugging in the AC adaptor (IBM one) makes the beep and the battery charging icon turns to orange showing it's charging but under 95% full but the charge never seems to go up though windows reports the battery status as "charging"
The ibm battery monitor thingy shows only voltage as the battery is charged and also starts showing current and wattage if I remove the AC adaptor.
Here is a list of things I've done :
*removed battery powered on with adaptor used for 10 mins shut down and replaced battery
*left battery to charge overnight
*'charged' battery with laptop switched on and off
*ran the battery down (bad move) to below 1% until the laptop powered off then tried everything again.
None of these helped and now I can't install the BIOS update (which is unlikely to help anyway) due to the battery not being charged (it doesn't allow me)
Also I might note that the ibm battery monitor shows that the battery is on 1 cycle which seems unlikely.
So should I return the unit or can anyone help
