Stuck key

#1 Post by Udayan » Thu Sep 02, 2004 1:59 pm

I have a stuck equal sign/plus sign key. Should I remove the keyboard and tinker with it or pry the key off or what? Or should I contact IBM for a replacement. I couldn't find any link on their support site for information regarding this problem, so I would appreciate any help.

Thanks.

You can pull the keyboard and play with it, try to clean it, etc. but you'll probably wind up breaking it. The little scissors mechanism that works the keys is pretty fragile - if you pop the key off you'll be very lucky to ever get it back on.

So might as well go ahead and order a keyboard anyway - they are pretty cheap (around $50 if I remember right).

I removed and replaced all of the keys on my 600E keyboard. Didn't have any problem but I don't know if the T series keys are as robust. I'd try popping it off first - probably got something sticky back there. IBM will probably replace it under warranty, though.
