I know there are possibly some driver issue, what I am used to is being able to run video to either laptop monitor, external monitor, both, or extend desktop, ro mirror.
but, after connecting up the dell through DVI using a Dock II, don't seem to be able to get the T41 to do its max, 1028x, and have the Dell 20" do anything more than than.
Everytime I get into presentation director, all I get is blacked out resolution selections for the external monitor, the LCD
If I try to change the 2nd monitor settings in Display options, I can move it up to 1600x, but it clicks back to 1280. I do'nt know if this is really 1280 being displayed, looks more like 1024x
Is there a way to further enable the external display to be able to do more than the LT resolution as well?
Is that the external drive HACK that people have written about and then putting in the ATI catalyst drivers?
Is there a proven protocol for this?
I SHOULD ADD!, That while connected to the dock and starting with the DVI connected, the system just HANGS on startup. Doesn't get back the IBM splashsceen. I have to disconnect it from the DOCK before it moves along.
Any thoughts what this might be?
thanks

Trying to enable Dell 20 LCD over DVI with a T41
The IBM video driver only supports up to 1280x1024 via DVI. For higher resolutions, use the reference ATI Catalyst Driver (http://www.ati.com) along with Patje's Mobility Modder (http://www.driverheaven.net/patje/). Or use Omega Drivers (http://www.omegadrivers.net/) or DNA Drivers (http://www.dna-drivers.nl/). I've tried all three and prefer the DNA Drivers.

Can one get to using 1024x on the LT and 1600 on the LCD
in parallel?
meaning, displaying both screens, but at differant resolutions?
I'd like that, but after doing the updating of the ATI drivers, I seem to only be able to get 1280 on the LCD while 1024x on the LCD,
or disabling the LCD, or setting up a profile in PRESENTATION DIRECTOR and then having it simply display to the LCD 1600x, which I AM able to get up now.
The NEW ATI menu that pops up in the menu bar, now allows me to get the display properties to display 1600X as an option for the DELL LCD. But, it is bit funky, meaning it works sometimes, but then other times, the option is not there.
BTW, which DNA drivers does one pick?

If you install one of these drivers, can you still use IBM's Presentation Manager or do you need to set your display settings by going directly to the display properties setup window? For higher resolutions, use the reference ATI Catalyst Driver (www.ati.com) along with Patje's Mobility Modder (http://www.driverheaven.net/patje/). Anyone have any comments about the point above about being able to display TWO differant resolution types, on TWO screens?
thanks for the feeback?
