Mysterious "click" won't go away!!!

I have had this before and it was sort of fixed. I scanned and removed all tracking cookies and it worked for awhile but now i scan and remove and this mysterious click is still there. happens about every 20 seconds or so and i don't know where it's coming from. Any help on this would be great. thanks

That's probably the click from some form of embedded IE that some background process is running. I usually turn off the system playing sounds when I open links or folders and that has gotten rid of it on the systems that used to have it.

i dont understand what all that involves, but it does it with all programs open. i got into ctrl alt del screen and watch processes and there is a spike in cpu usage when it clicks but i cant centralize where in the world its coming from?

I've starting having this problem as well right after I did a system restore last week. I've never had this problem before, but in the past I had used a PCMCIA Sound Blaster Audigy 2, so I'm wondering if it may have anything to do with the sound drivers. It seems to be making the "click" sound only after a sound finishes playing. I've tried to investigate the problem, but have had no luck so far.

If you are noticing CPU spikes, get process monitor from http://www.sysinternals.com/ (now owned by Microsoft). It will give you much more information than the task manager.

Ive searched for and removed the tracking cookies but the click still persists. any help or further advice would be great. i use the usb port for music output sometimes and the click sound really is annoying and i would really like to make it go away. thanks for the help.
