Dell Widescreen 20" Monitor & DVI Resolution Help

#1 Post by atct86 » Sun Dec 03, 2006 6:59 pm

I have been running my new Dell 2007WFP monitor of of my T40 connected to the dock. It works fine at 1680x1050 over VGA, but i am having problems running DVI. The image always looks stretched and is bigger than the screen.

Can anyone help me resolve this?

Are you switching monitors with Fn+F7, or telling Windows to extend the desktop?

Which video drivers are you using?

Edit: It seems from searching that most people using DVI are running Omega Catalyst drivers. Might want to give that a shot.

How would I do that.

Also, is the DVI Port limited to certain resolutions?

How would you do which? No, there is no resolution limitation on either DVI or the VGA connector.

I am going to assume that question was aimed at my post. To run Omega drivers you Click Here and select the second drive from the top, 3.8.252. Then open the file and follow the instructions.

Creating a Restore point is probably a good idea in case something messes up.

Good luck.

You haven't specified how you are outputting to DVI, but with my T42's dock (the lowest end one, can't remember the exact model number) I created a profile in Presentation Manager. I just set it to output to DVI at 1680x1050 and it worked fine. Update your Lenovo video drivers & Presentation Director, it should work just fine.
Have used just about every ThinkPad since the T42 days...
