Driver Multiburner uj822s

Like a lot of people who have this multiburner I have problems with reading/writing dvd's.

As I want to rule out software causes I want to reinstall the driver,
but don't know how...can't even find the driver on my TP or on IBM/LENOVO site...
Any help on deinstall and reinstall?

Are you trying to write disk at once on DVD RW (ie re-writable) media that has already been written to or has never been initialized ?

If so, try DVD R (single write) media and let us know what happens.

I tried various dvd´s +RW, -RW, -R from different brands: Philips; Verbatim.
This log was a Philips -RW out of the package, other dvd´s aren´t even recognised by the player (´no disk inserted`).

Unfortunately I don´t have the time right now but I will get back with another log (single write) or some more info......

Same problem, same drive.

I too have been hunting for a driver download. Or some firmware. I can't find anything at all.

Thank god for warranty. I'll be RMAing this as soon as I can.

same issue, same exact circumstances. Power calibration error 30 seconds into the burn. The disc doesn't get wasted/written on.

Only happens when I try to burn DVDs; CDs are fine.

This drive is in my X4 dock. Is there a more recent burner that fits in the dock also?

I have the UJ-842 and have never had this problem. If this drive is the same form factor, perhaps it would be an option.

Same here - no problems at all with UJ-842 on the T42. Some off-brand DVD disks burn at 4x and even 2x. But Verbatim, TDK and Sony all burn at 8x, the maximum speed for this internal drive.

I used to have similar issue with the same drive and my old Thinkpad. The problem started when i tried to burn DVDs using 16x DVD-R and tried 3 different brands/3 different burning apps. Then i bought some 16x DVD+R and it was working fine. When i tried some of the 16x DVD-R again i had the same problem and almost never able to burn a DVD successfully. Using the 16x DVD+R or some old 8x DVD-R that i had i never had any issues burning DVDs. I cannot remember that i ever had any problems burning CDs.

The Matshita drives is neither able to read DVDs (movies) unless the region of the movie match your settings no matter what you do (unless you find a rpc-1 firmware). Any other DVD players can do this using software like anydvd so for those two reasons i really hate the Matshita drives and really happy that my new Thinkpad do not have a Matshita drive.

If possible to replace the Matshita with any other brand that can be used with your computer i would recommend to do so or i'm pretty sure you have to accept the problem burning DVDs. I think this is a problem with the drive/firmware and not the driver or burning software. Even if some find it to work ok i read a lot of complaints as well.

Since you have a bump drive, you may need to run this utility from a USB flash stick.

Until you run the Firmware update utility, you can never tell whether an update is available for that particular drive or not.

Well the release notes says what drives the update applies to and also include information about the previous releases. If you drive is not listed there is no update for your drive.
