UltraPort on T42p?
UltraPort on T42p?
Does anyone know if the T42p has the UltraPort under the rubber insert on the display? I am refering to the port used for the UltraPort Webcam.

I don't believe it does. The old T2X series did (don't know about the 3X).

Are you sure you're not looking at one of the WiFi antennae? There's one on the top of the display.ZPrime wrote:interesting, i was wondering what that insert/spot was for.
AFAIK, none of the T4x series machines have an UltraPort: http://www-306.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... IGR-4PBS2T

Well, by "that spot" I mean this.
It looks to me like it was once user-removeable for this camera connection, but they've since removed the feature in newer thinkpads...

I can't really locate where you're pointing to in that photo. What part of the display is that? What are the two lights on the right? I'm LOST!ZPrime wrote:Well, by "that spot" I mean this: SNIP It looks to me like it was once user-removeable for this camera connection, but they've since removed the feature in newer thinkpads...
The UltraPort is on the TOP of the display when opened on units that have one.

Ahhh, I see. Then I still don't know what this thing is.
In that picture you're looking at a 15" screen on a T42p. The two green lights are on the back of the LCD, near the bottom (I don't have my clearplates yet). There's a small grey/white arrow pointing to the edge of the LCD that may not be clear in the picture. That is the part of the LCD closest to the hinge and near the battery on a T42. This "cutout" is near the power plug on the back - just left of center (which I assume the grey arrow is indicating).

There is no Ultraport connection on the lid of the T42 - I'm typing this on one and I can assure you there's nothing there aside from
A: A 'serrated' panel on the front ("Leading" JHEM ?) edge of the lid which I can only imagine to be where one is supposed to put ones fingers when opening the lid.
B: A 'serrated' band on the right hand edge of the lid - again imagination swings into play, and I presume this is also for ease of opening the lid
C: A rectangular (but with rounded edges!) panel on the rear of the lid, near the famous arrow (used to align the TP in a dock) underneath which I'm led to believe there is part of the Bluetooth antenna assembly.
Interestingly there are also no Ultraport connections on my Fiat UNO - but I'm having words with FIAT about this...
