Access Connections Software

#1 Post by DrBob » Sat Sep 04, 2004 10:47 pm

I un-installed Access Connections tonight while updating the wireless driver. I have always let WinXP manage my Wireless Connections. I have yet to re-install Access Connections; my question is if I still have Windows managing the wireless, am I missing out on anything other than the handy systray icon if I don't re-install the software?

I haven't played around with the SP2 wireless configurations, but I have used Access Connections and find it very useful because it can store profiles containing the different settings (encryption keys, transmitting modes, etc) for the different networks I use.

I use up to three different wireless networks every day, so being able to switch profiles with the click of a button comes in handy :)

The most useful part of Access Connection for me is the fact that I can specify a proxy server in a profile. I need this setting to connect to internet at work.

Access Connection used to be very flakey that I had to often switch between WinXP & Access Connection, but the most recent version seems to be stable enough.

I love that Access Connections automatically configures everything. Swtiches printers, loads VPN software, etc. It offers far, far more than XP SP2.
