Product Recovery Disk 2 - 'stuck'

I am using the IBM Product recovery cds for my T43 - when i put the 2nd product recovery CD -of 6 - the sytem seems to hang - with the message "insert Product Recovery Disc 2" -

nothing seems to be happening - no HD or Cd noise - and the progress bar does not move - the message is paused at "Processing D:\Recovery\ZMPSBAD.IMD2"

According to the instructions the system may 'hang' for several minutes and is normal but my system has now been hanging for 60 mins - is this normal?
