Hidden partition.

#1 Post by Cat5 » Sun Sep 05, 2004 7:09 pm

Hello...

I'm intending to wipe the whole HDD and download the drivers and programs from tpdrivers and i'm wondering is there anything that could go bad? Is this hidden partition crucial to normal working of the PC (Access IBM predesktop area maybe?)

Thank you

No, it's not necessary for the normal functioning of the computer. But unless you're short on disk space, it's kinda nice to know that you can re-image your computer, in the event of a catastrophy, with the press of a single button.

Just make sure you save the IBM Tools folder, or at least the DVD player, and the CD burner thingy. The rest of the drivers, misc. are downloadable from IBM.

Well, that's true... I will normally reinstall then and i will leave the hidden partition be then (just to keep the xp for one button recovery)...

DVD player i dont need, IBM tools? (i can download those right?)

P.S. How do i "see" the contents of the partition for a copy? (DVD backup?)

Go into the BIOS and change the option to hide the partition.
