T43 or T43/P or What?

#1 Post by hkelley » Thu Dec 14, 2006 9:05 am

I have asked this question before and receivded logical answers but I remain confused. Do I have a T43 or a T43/p?

This question comes up when I look at the Lenovo Device Driver update chart and it has two columns:

T43
(Machine types 1871, 1872, 1873, 1874,1875, 1876)
T43/p
(Machine types 2668, 2669, 2678, 2679, 2686, 2687)

My unit is a 2686-DHU. So, does this classify my machine as a "/p".

There is no other marking on my laptop other than T43 (lower right corner of the LCD).

Yesterday, a new BIOS upgrade was posted for the T43 but not the T43/P and I am unsure as to whether to install it.

Hi,

why don't you use the automatic system detection? You can find it here. But it only works with iexplorer.

No.

The "p" models have the ATI® MOBILITY™ FireGL™ V3200 / PCI Express x16 / 128MB GDDR1 memory - display adapter.

The 18xx models have the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900 (GMA 900) / integrated graphics in 915GM GMCH / uses main memory (up to 128MB with 256MB+) / 200MHz - display adapter.

The 26xx models have one of the ATI display adapters. Either the "p" type mentioned above, or the following: ATI® MOBILITY™ RADEON® X300 / PCI Express x16 / 64MB GDDR1 memory - display adapter (what you have).

2686-DHU Pentium® M 740 1.73 512MB 15.0" XGA X300 64MB 60GB 5400 Combo ✳ Intel 11b/g32 Modem Finger 6-cell 1-yr Jun 05

Here are a couple of more examples:

According to the Lenovo site your machine is a T43:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... ry=2686DHU

Just enter the number....
T42p 1GB RAM M745
15" UXGA IntelPro ABG 60 GB

Thank you all for responding and eliminating my confusion. The suggestion to use the automatic system would normally do the trick, but I am running Vista and the auto system hasn't caught up to that yet.

The suggestion to go to the Lenovo Driver site is what started the confusion because it is here than the 2686 is listed in the T43/P column of drivers.

I have a T43 and that's that. Thanks.
