#1 Post by freedomtraveler » Sun Dec 17, 2006 8:34 pm

Today when i run the softwall installer to update my T43,i get a message show that the version of my softwall installer was too old,so i used the old softwall installer to down the new version .but when i finished,it told me the new version can't install on my computer. Is that someting wrong in my computer?or the software had problems?
Any suggestions,or advices all welcome!

Uninstall it, download the newest version and install it manually. The newest version works fine on my T41. ... JD Hurst

If you can't install Software Installer, you might try downloading and installing Windows Installer 3.1 Redistributable (v2) first, then Software Installer. Just an idea.

What, if any, is the error message that is shown when you try to install the updated version? You might want to do a registry scrub as well to get rid of invalid keys. :)

What are you using as a "registry scrub" these days? I used JV16 eons ago but ultimately came to the conclusion that the basic code in Windows XP is so flawed that trying for perfection is like shining sh*t. In the year or 18 months since I abandoned programs like JV16, I honestly haven't noticed any difference on two desktop and 2 notebook systems, but then, what do I know? Are there any good freeware programs out there with this functionality?

Best,

ken

For freeware? CCleaner does a noticeably good job of cleaning the registry. For general, heavy duty use, RFA Platinum, although it will cost you some as it is assuredly worth more than the price, does an extremely *deep* clean of the registry that does indeed aid in the smoothness of operation of the system. I have been using them for quite awhile now and, scheduled to run with PerfectDisk 8.0 as my defragmenter, things have been great so far on my system and those I manage. :)
