Bluetooth driver 5.1.0.2100 and mouse
Bluetooth driver 5.1.0.2100 and mouse
My T43 has stopped using my Trust MI-5300 bluetooth mouse.
All was OK until this morning when I checked the state of Software Installer and it wanted to install 5.1.0.2100. After that my mouse stopped functioning.
Bluetooth (Fn+F5 ) is on;
Mouse is recognised by Bluetooth config and 'Add a Bluetooth device', but moving mouse does not move the cursor or cause the LED below the screen to twinkle, as would be the case if there was communication between mouse and Bluetooth.
from other postings I have:
Rolled back to previous driver, with no success.
Rolled back whole system to yesterday and day before, to no avail.
Edited name of BTW.INF to no avail.
Re-installed 5.1.0.2100 several times, but no change.
Checked the batteries of the mouse!
When the utilities ask for the button to be clicked to confirm mouse connectivity, install wizards come up for audio, LAN access, etc. -none of which I want, so have disabled them. The install wizards end with a pop-up saying that there is a problem with the device hardware, but then this was fine until the driver upgrade.
I checked the Bluetooth drivers in the Device Manager and they say that they are OK...
Any suggestions, please? I dislike using the tracker pad, etc. as they are so slow and cumbersome.
TIA, Nick

I had a lot of problems with my BT mouse as well (BT510).
At the end the solution I found was to uninstall all BT drivers and softwares form IBM, and stick with WinXP's default drivers and managment softwares. Now it works fine. Fn+F5 and BT indicator LED work fine as well. The only thing I am not sure about is that, if I'm getting the BT Enhance Data Rate functionality or not, without the drivers from IBM (Can anybody confirm that?). But since I only use it for the mouse, and rarely for other things, I'm fine with it.

T43 2686NAU (2.0GHz, 14" SXGA+) 1.25GB, Seagate 100GB 7200rpm, Bluetooth IV, and an annoying pulsating fan...
Thanks, Hiyel, I will give it a try and see what happens. The annoying thing, to me, is that the mouse has been working faultlessly for a year.
EDIT: Tried, but no different; sees the mouse, but the mouse will not drive the cursor.
BTW, the mouse communicates directly with the T43, i.e. not via an USB dongle.
EDIT2: As I have a spare new mouse of the same type, I tried that and it produces the same result. Hence a s/w conflict, but where....
(Also I tried Libeay32.dll in system32 folder, but makes no difference.)

Gave up! I had an Acronis backup from the 18th and having spent about 12 hours trying to get the mouse going, I decided that a partition restore was the best thing. Took Acronis backup last night, which was a good thing as I needed to retrieve my email file this morning, and then it took about 1 hour to do a complete restore. Mouse now back in business.
All I have to do now is the few changes I made in the week, e.g. remove Norton Anti Virus as it is too slow, and install AVG.
Thank you **Acronis** -one of my better buys.
As for 5.1.0.2100, the blurb says that the changes only concern high speed transfer, which I cannot use on the T43. Something more fundamental has changed, though! I will be interested to see if anyone else has problems with this driver.

Merry Christmas/ Seasonal Greetings to all and thanks to all through the last year who have provided answers and inspiration in this forum whether direct to me or via discussions I have read. Not forgetting a big thank you to the moderators.

Yes, I do.ericvn wrote:In Device Manager under BlueTooth Devices, do you have BlueTooth Bus Enumerator?
The version number of the BlueTooth Bus Enumerator driver is 5.1.0.2100, dated 17/08/2006, so it seems to have been loaded in conjunction with the IBM Integrated Bluetooth IV driver.
Cheers,
Bill
Well, I have two entries under BlueTooth Devices as well, and they are both the same version and date as noted by you.
I did do a show hidden, and found BlueTooth Radio with to MS entries. I did uninstall these and rename the .inf and .pnf as noted in the MS KB and did an uninstall and reinstall of the Lenovo stack and I still have the same problem.
It seems I cannot really uninstall the ThinkPad Enhanced Data Rate software, as the two BlueTooth devices remain even after rebooting and they are still the same version. Trying to go back to the 4.x version of the ThinkPad code didn't work as the drivers stayed at the 5.x version.
I have no problems pairing to my headset or my phone with the Thinkpad, and I can pair the MS Presenter mouse to it's dongle just fine. Maybe it really isn't meant to work, although some others here seem to have had it work at one time. Maybe I need another newer version 5 set of code. Maybe another brand mouse would work. I'm thinking I'm going to just have to return this mouse since I can use my old wireless mouse with it's dongle. I was hoping I could get out of having to carry a dongle with the BT mouse, but it didn't work.
Thanks,
Eric VN

Well, after I had pretty given up, I thought I would try one thing before returning the mouse. I think I am running the microsoft dongle on the Lenovo stack (since I uninstalled the Blue Radio devices earlier), and thought I would see if my headset would work off the dongle. I tried to pair the two devices with no luck.
I then removed the MS dongle and tried one last time to pair the Presenter 8000 to the laptop. And it worked... No idea why..
Then it was off to hacking the Intellipoint software to give me back the additional MS features that are missing when using the other BT stack.
Right now I am happy. Hopefully, this doesn't start failing in the future.
Thanks,
Eric VN
