Can anyone give me a Part # for T43p System Board?

#1 Post by Lazarus » Sat Dec 23, 2006 6:24 pm

Hello !

I'm looking for the part # of a T43p System Board that has a 2.23GHZ CPU, ATI 128MB Video, 400+MHZ Bus Speed, Security Chip and Biometric Fingerprint Reader.

I would also be happy if anyone could tell me how to upgrade a System Board for the Fingerprint Reader alone (if that's possible).

It looks like you could use either of these.

39T0477 or 39T0480 (lead-free)

Specs from a T43p that uses these (has fingerprint reader):
T43p 2687-D5U Pentium M 760 2.00 1GB 15.0" UXGA 128MB 80GB DVD±RW ✳ Intel 11a/b/g Mod/Blue Finger 4.7 hr 9-cell 3-yr Apr 05

Find all your parts information here: System service parts - ThinkPad T43/p

Get tabook for model information here: tabook

EDIT: I forgot to add that the CPU is separate from the system board.

What does "lead free" mean?

Lead-free solder (no Pb) was used in the construction of the motherboard for the purpose of being environmentally friendly when it is eventually disposed of. AFAIK, this is a legal requirement in some locals.

So no technical difference and one being as good as the other, right?

That web site was REALY helpful and I recon I found my system board now - 39T0477 (or 39T0480 lead-free).

I don't believe there is any technical difference from an operating point of view. I do believe that lead solder makes a stronger connection than lead-free, so there is that to consider.

Your part # 39T0477 doesn't show up on that web page.
Instead I come up with 39T0324.

Am I missing something here??

39T0477 is on the System Service Parts link I provided above.

39T0324 is the following: System board assembly
Intel 915GM, Gigabit Ethernet with security chip/fingerprint reader

Fault with my text search, sorry.
How can I find out what system board I have currently installed in my T42?

Two ways.

1. Go to Parts lookup

2. Press the blue Access IBM button and choose Learn > System information > Warranty & parts.
