brand new 2373-w6m

#1 Post by anton » Wed Sep 08, 2004 8:44 am

hi everyone, pleased to find this forum!

ive just got a brand new t42p 2.0GHZ dothan, firegl t2 80 gig hardrive, pro wireless and all that (not bad eh?)
my questions concerns irq setting in the bios config page

it lists the irq as follows;

INTA PCI IRQ (11)
INTB PCI IRQ (11)
INTC PCI IRQ (11)
INTD PCI IRQ (11)
INTE PCI IRQ (11)
INTF PCI IRQ (11)
INTG PCI IRQ (11)
INTH PCI IRQ (11)

etc

as you can see they are all on 11
i have a pyro firewire pcmcia for use with a motu 828 firewire audio device, in the past this has needed its own interupt or i suffer audio dropouts,

how does the list in the bio relate to the actual hardware?
what one do i change to change this particular device??

any help greatly apreciated
Anton

Sharing IRQs used to be a problem with WIN 9X but shouldn't be with WIN XP. If you still have dropouts/jerkiness with your PCMCIA firewire card, you may need to manually reconfigure it. In the BIOS setup, see if "reconfigure IRQ settings" is an option. If that doesn't work, go into Device Manager and look at reconfiguration options in the "driver settings" tab.

Good luck!

hi
thanks for reply,
yes you can completely reconfigure irqs in the bios, that wasnt my question, the question was how the list in the bios relates to devices in hardware??

Go to Run and type "msconfig" (without the quotations)
The last tab is startup and in there you can uncheck it.
along with anything else you don't want starting.
If you don't know what it is then leave it.
