Motorola Bluetooth Headset doesn't work w/ T-42

#1 Post by Sbrehaut » Wed Sep 08, 2004 1:34 pm

My new Motoroloa Bluetooth Headset HS820 does not yet work with my T-42 (2373-3UU)

Here's how I tried to get it operational:

I activeted the BT FN/F5, and installed the IBM BT software downloaded from their site IBM Integrated II software Ver 1.4.3.4

I can get my Motorola HS820 to pair with my T42 ( but it does not show up as a selectable Audio device available to in the standard Windows Audio Devices control panel which I'd expect it to do.

Nor did I have an icon for My Bluetooth Places.

So I had an Aha.. I see that I could install the software via Thinkpad Software Installer and then the Device was installed and My Bluetooth places was placed on the desktop though nothing happens when I click on the icon, the system tray icon shows that the T-42 BT is working but does not offer any other info-Clicking on the tray icon I get "bluetooth device not found", even though the LED flickers when I turn on the headset.

In Device Manager>Wireless Link> Bluetooth radios I have
IBM Integrate Bluetooth III
Driver date 10/17/02 Actiontec 5.1.2535.0
&
Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator
Driver date 7/1/01 Driver version 5.0.2535.0

It lists as Authenticated

If I look in the properties of the Headset and under the Services Tab I see nothing listed, presumably this is where some audio functionality would be listed.

I've read somewhere on this forum that only one driver can operate at once. Should I disable one? Which one? I disabled the MSFT one- no luck.

I removed the Headset in the Wireless Link panel and when I tried to install it again it couldn't be found.

Does anyone now how to fix this mess?

Thanks

I do recall you do have to turn on the Headset with its built in switch a couple of times until it appears.

I folowed the exact same steps you did, and it is working for me. On my T42 when I use the audio properties, in the mixer I can select the "bluetooth" mixer or the built in sound card.

Perhaps it is worth removing and reinstalling.

I had no luck with repeated turn on attempts so before I reinstall it would you mind seeing if your drivers are the same as mine? The dates seem very old for a newly developing technology. I see in the Xten software (your Vonage) via the audio tuning wizard, where the mixer is and where the Bluetooth would hopefully show up. Can you see what is also listed in Control Panel>Sounds and Audio Devices>audio tab- does it show the Bluetooth headset there? If it shows there it should be able to be used with Instant messanger and web cams too.

Thanks a bunch

BTW- do you play or watch golf? :D
