ibm client security

#1 Post by NoBob » Thu Sep 09, 2004 5:45 am

I downloaded and installed the ibm client security software, enabled the security chip in BIOS, entered admin passwords and IBM Client Security Passphrase for me, the User, and rebooted. I've enabled the Passphrase function in BIOS.

On rebooting am now asked for UVM Passphrase, but neither the User Password nor the Administrator Password works. I get 'authentification failure'.

When it first happened I thought I was locked out, but went back into BIOS and disabled the chip and so could re-enter Windows.

But now I can't make any config changes to the ibm embedded security in Windows because I've disabled the chip. But if the chip is enabled I can't enter Windows, because my passwords are rejected.

Does anyone know a way out of this mess?

Can't even delete the ibm security chip software in Control Panel!

NoBob.
