Constant ticking sound ...

#1 Post by flounder » Thu Sep 09, 2004 11:13 am

Hi

I have recently received my new thinkpad, a T42 2378FVU ... While this one has no dead pixels like my last one, theres a constant, albeit very inaudible, ticking sound, just like tick tick tick tock tick ... This is apart from the normal fan noise ...

Is this ticking normal?

Thanks,

Regards,
Ali

this is nothing abnormal - it is the hard drive optimizing OS files. this will taper off the more you use the laptop, mine did that for about a week then it all but stopped. If you absolutely must stop it, you can download TweakUI, it will allow you to turn off "Optimize hard disk while idle" which is a windows function.
