Service Partition; T42 vs. T43

#1 Post by Ken Fox » Sat Jan 06, 2007 2:03 am

I've previously determined that the contents of the service partition on the T42 and X32 I own are identical, which is not that surprising considering that the hardware in the two machines is very similar, differing primarily in the video cards.

I have a T43 that is enroute, which will replace my T42 which is for sale (here initially but soon on ebay or to a friend).

Does anyone know if the service partition on a T43 is the same as on a T42? On the T42, the service partition's size is about 590mb, but the contents are actually a little less than 500mb. There are some differences in the hardware of a T43 vs. a T42, and those differences are more significant (chipset, SATA-PATA bridge, system bus speeds) than the differences between my T42 and X32.

From what I've read I assume that the service partition in the next generation of machines, e.g. such as T60, is much larger and therefore obviously different, but I'm not sure about the T43 vs. the T42.

Thanks for any information in advance.
