URGENT: Rescue and recovery error

#1 Post by Temetka » Wed Jan 10, 2007 12:56 am

I keep getting a type 6 error with R&R while trying to install it. Any help with solving this ASAP.

Thanks in advance.

Do you have any further details on that error msg?
Is your Rescue & Recovery partition still intact?

You do need 1.5GB min freespace to install R & R.

It's the factory fresh install of XP. I updated to SP2. I have over 20gb of free space.

Let me re-run it and I'll type in what it says verbatim

/fires up R&R

Weird. This is the 3rd time I ran it. Now it went fine. I have to reboot Windows, post back in a minute.

Weirder and weirder. Now it's running fine. My HD is going bonkers while it extracts the files and get's ready to burn the CD's.

Now I will have a set of recovery media so I can wipe the HD, load XP, Linux and Vista my way. There seems to be a lot of un-needed stuff in this default factory image. So a fresh install of XP should make things a little better. For now I will be sticking with IBM supplied drivers.

I can't wait to see how Vista RC2 runs on this bad boy.
