Screen Resolution on T41 is -- DRIVING ME CRAZY --

#1 Post by Sticky72 » Fri Sep 10, 2004 2:35 pm

Does anyone know how I can get the resolution on my T41 higher than 1024x768? I tried a few different drivers, but it seems like the actual LCD Panel is the limitation, not the driver. Even 1280x1024 would be good at this point. UGH I cant stand these huge icons and font sizes!

Please someone help!! =/

What's your model number - found on the bottom of the laptop. it will be 4 digits and then 3 letters or numbers. that can tell us which LCD your laptop has.

in all likelihood, you bought one that only has an XGA (1024x768) screen. is it 14.1" or are you cursed with the evil 15" XGA model?

You could theoretically find the part number for the higher-rez screen and purchase it, although the display may depend on a certain video card - i know that some displays are only sold with certain video solutions, which would indicate a possible cable compatibility problem if you were trying to swap.

Loving my 15" of 1600x1200 over here. ;) [/gloat]

It's a limitation of the model you bought. The 14.1" displays with the radeon 7500 chipset have a maximum internal resolution of 1024x768. To get higher, you have to use an external display. You can make the Icons and fonts smaller but the basic resolution remains the same. I kinda like that resolution, personally :?

From tabook:
2373-7FU
Pentium M 1.6
512MB
14.1” XGA
7500
40HS
Combo
Intel 11b Wi-Fi
Modem
Gigabit
(security chip) Yes
(battery cells) 6
XP Pro
XGA == 1024x768. Like sktn77a said, you need to use an external display if you want a higher resolution.

This is what you bought:
2373-7FU
Pentium M 1.6
14.1” XGA
Notice the XGA in the screen specs. XGA = 1024x768. This is all this laptop will ever do, unless you replace both the LCD screen and the video card in the T41. In other words, nothing's wrong - you got exactly what you paid for.

Did you receive this as a gift? Just wondering 'cause otherwise how can you not know what specification laptop you bought?

I brother actually prefers the XGA res on his 15" Compaq and has desktop icons placed all over the screen *shrug*

Exchange it if it's still within your 30days.
I am Canadian
