T43P 2668-C25 with Hitachi 160GB 5400

Did any one know did I get a chance to use this hard disk?
after I read may post it only support up to 100 Gb hard disk...
Please help

I just buy it for few days, I didnt know that T43 doesnt support other ATA harddisk

Any modern laptop will recognize a modern and spacious HDD, but you should be aware of the 2010 error which the BIOS doesn't let you use the drive if it not have IBM firmware, not all drives are susceptible to this, but should be aware.

As Benottomex said, it should recognize it. The only issue that you would have to deal with is the 2010 Error although, if you aren't getting it (a few drives don't generate it), then I wouldn't worry about it.

is that mean I still can use the new 160GB Harddisk?
Just only got the 2010 error?
I have format my disk but can't boot up the T43. only a black blank screen with a cursor. if I cant use it I just place into ebay asap

Actually, I just purchase a 160 GB harddisk and a USB case. I want to swap my notebook harddisk coz I have installed the vmware for some reason. I format the harddisk using the USB case and copy a bootdisk files into the 160GB harddisk. I press “ESC” to ignore the 2010 error message. And can not boot up as normal.
Pls help... I am very upset.

Have you put an operating system on the drive, have you put an image of a former drive on it or tried to load Windows or other OS? You say you just bought the drive but what have you done with it since you bought it?

If you used Rescue and Recovery, or Norton Ghost, your problem may be a corrupted or nonexistent Master Boot Record (MBR). This can be restored either with the Windows Recovery Console (Win XP install disk; 2nd choice) or the IBM MBR repair tool that loads from a floppy drive or CD; you can download the latter, which is the best choice, from the Lenovo website and I referenced the link in a recent thread in the Software/Hardware forum entitled "Blinking Cursors," etc. etc. etc.

Yes, The problem may be the Master Boot Record.
I have ask my technian to restored but failed.
Now, I reinstall everything. but it is good lesson for me.
Before I have more then 70 process when start up XP. and now only 28 process. it become faster.

But 2010 error still occur. Need to wait until they luanch 160GB harddisk support. thanks Mike.
