The 64MB of graphics memory is not enough to support Vista's Aero features on a 1400x1050 screen. See http://www.pc.ibm.com/us/microsoft/vista/sysreq.html for more info.

ATI X300 can use up to 256MB hypermemory. Won't it be enough to run Vista's Aero? or the SXGA+ causes problem when runing Vista's Aero?

BTW, T43 is one of Lenovo's "Windows Vista Premium Ready" machines according to http://www.pc.ibm.com/us/microsoft/vist ... ended.html

My favouritePad is X61. My eBay feedback is here. :)
My next goal of upgrading my super X61 is: XGA -> SXGA+

Well, the OP probably wouldn't want us to compete with him/her!

Zaku, as far as what's a fair price, it depends on the condition of the laptop, whether it's still under warranty, whether the recovery partition is intact and/or the recovery discs are included, whether it still has the WinXP Pro COA sticker, and the seller's feedback rating.

the T43 isn't from ebay but a friend told me he could have get from ibm certified refurb. so i suppose the conditions must be like new? and all the partitions as it originally came?

That's what I've read on this forum and on that URL I provided.

Found it on IBM's Canadian site. $1,299CAD is of course for the general public. This particular T43 isn't indicated as "slightly blemished" (many others are), so I presume it's like new. I don't know about the HDD partitions, so I will let others answer that question.

Put a 512MB or better RAM chip and you're ready to go with Vista.

Assuming that the employee price is 30% less (a reasonable guess), I think it's a very good deal. I also agree with benottomex that you should increase the RAM, which will cost you up to $200CAD extra.
