T40 Dothan C0 Stepping news + T40 mobo upgrade question

Firstly I upgraded my Banias CPU in my T40 to a Dothan 735A C0 stepping CPU, that many people were having problems with e.g. "it is stuck at 600MHz because the T40 BIOS doesn't recognise it" full thread here:http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=32165

I posted near the end of that thread that I got mine working and have since discovered how, after re-installing XP my CPU was stuck at 600MHz and nothing would make it switch, well to cut a long story I then installed Notebook Hardware Control and turned on "Enable Custom Dynamic Switching" and guess what it works fine, so thats how I got it working! seems that NHC overrides the motherboard cpu table, so why can't LENOVO just give us a patch please!!?

Also I'm getting annoyed with the ATI 7500 GPU in my system and don't want to get a T60 yet so I'm thinking about putting a T42 39T5451 system board in my T40, has anybody tried this before, it has the ATI Mobility 9600 in it and that is quite an upgrade from a 7500, it looks similar physically but it looks like I'll need a long fan for the GPU?

Oh, and another thought the T42 motherboard will probably detect my C0 Stepping dothan properly, right or wrong?

I'm pretty sure a T42 mobo will fit on your T40, the exception here is the T43 motherboards which have the ExpressCard slot. You'll need the long fan assembly if you buy a T42 mobo with a dedicated graphic chip (FireGL T2)

Sounds good to me, I might just give it a go I can always sell the motherboard again if it doesn't work out, and if it does I'll sell the one that is in here, its well tested
