I tried removing the battery and puting it back in, right now the CD-ROM drive is removed, but I don't know what the problem is or what else to do.

T42 Freezes/BSOD, beeping
I've had my trusty T42 since June 2005, not a single problem. I had one BSOD two months ago, but I ignored it. Nothing has happened until today. All of the sudden it freezes, and the screen goes to blue and white stripes. I reboot it, holding down the power button, waiting a few seconds, and then starting it again, and before I can get windows fully loaded it freezes again. I try restarting it again, but this time before anything comes on the screen, the compter beeps, one long beep followed by two short ones. The screen stays black. So I reboot again, and I'm lucky enough to have a linux partition so I try booting into that. Everything works for a while, but then it started choking, pausing then spitting out everything I was writing, then it fully froze again, this time the screen becoming bright and discolored.
I tried removing the battery and puting it back in, right now the CD-ROM drive is removed, but I don't know what the problem is or what else to do.

Ah, look down several posts in the T4x index and you should see this:
"t42 shuts down when i move it:"
At the moment, it's four pages long. If you don't want to read the whole thing, here's the Cliff Notes version:
The graphics processing unit (GPU) is suspected of being the cause of random BSODs, weird display issues and/or boot problems. It may be related to one or more of the ball grid array (BGA) contacts on the bottom of the chip, separating from the circuit board. Possible solutions involve placing something on top of the GPU (between it and the keyboard) to keep downward pressure on it or performing a solder reflow operation using a heat gun.

Ah yes, stupid me.
Ah thanks, I glanced at the first page and I wasn't sure if I was having the same problem. I read the whole thing and sure enough, yes. Just another case of not reading the post...
