"Access IBM" crashes

#1 Post by ammar » Mon Jan 22, 2007 12:14 pm

How can I reinstall AIBM? I have an issue with it crashing before starting.
Can I download it from Lenovo site (didn't find it)?

Another question...
Since I'm used to Win-Key, I used the keyboard configuration application to map the WinKey to the right ctrk key. The problem is the mapping does not work at start up. I need to activate it each time I start Windows. Is it normal behavior?

TIA

Which T4x model do you have (T40, T41, T42, or T43)? You did not supply enough information.

T40

I thought the procedure would be same for all T4x-s.

The procedure, but not the file. I assume you are talking about using the Access IBM key while you are in Windows. Be sure and follow the Installation notes and Installation instructions.

Thanks for trying to help, but unsinstall, reboot, install - didn't help. Yes, I'm talking about the AIBM key while in windows, but the same behavior is when I start AIBM through the start menue.

Problem solved!
I've installed Nimo codec pack, and there seemed to be some problem with "mmswitch.ax". After regsvr32 /u mmswitch.ax everything seems to be working fine.
Am still fighting the WinKey issue though. I gave up on using IBM Keyboard customization tool and tried the registry solution, but it works only for few minutes.

Unless my memory is fading using the Alt/escape key works for me on my t43 for the Windows Key. Laptop not with me now, I'm at the office.

You mean the ctrl+escape, but that's no solution since it only pops the start menue. Winkey implements much more functions winkey+r, winkey+d, winkey+e ...).

Yes, however it's the only thing I use the Windows key for, I'm mostly point and click, or hail back to days before Windows keys.

However I dug this up over at PCWorld for a registry edit to remap specifically the left Alt key, however there are instructions and links for mapping other keys.
