Where is the best place to buy a T42 that accepts a PO
Hi, i am currently considering either buying the 2373gvu or the
2373gru. Does anyone know a good place to buy either of those that accepts a Purchase Order? I heard that buying from IBM directly is a rip off.
Also, what do you guys think about the IBM tri mode a/b/g card versus the intel b/g 2200 card? Which one should i go with. I am looking for connection stability/range/and speed, but then again isn't everyone, lol
Thanks for any info.

I don't know if Bill would accept a PO or not, but you can ask.
I have the a/b/g card in my 2373-KXU. Quite pleased with it. I've used it with 802.11g so far, but just bought an 802.11a access point. 802.11a access points can be had very cheaply (<$15) these days, and avoid the 2.4Ghz interference problems.

For a business to accept a PO your company needs to have a working relationship with the seller. This requires a credit check on the company that wants to open an account, after credit and terms of payment are established the financial officer of your company will give a letter with people who are authorized to place POs. Without these checks and balances anyone could setup a fake company and start issuing POs for expensive equipment, or say they were with a well known company who may have an account them and start placing POs when they don't have the authority.

I have two T42p ThinkPads, one with the Intel b/g 2200 card, the other with a/b/g card. A lot of people claim the a/b/g card is "better", but I have yet to substantiate this in my testing. Both cards have EXCELLENT range and stability, far better than the plug-in Netgear and Linksys I've used in the past (ugh!).borgit wrote:Also, what do you guys think about the IBM tri mode a/b/g card versus the intel b/g 2200 card? Oddly enough, I think the Intel b/g card is easier to use and has fewer issues. I just spent 2 days fighting with my brand new Thinkpad with the a/b/g card which just stopped working altogether for no reason at all (installing WinXP Service Pack 2 fixed whatever was "broken", but I spent 2 days installing, reinstalling, and reconfiguring everything from the laptop to my wireless access point). In light of this, I don't care if someone claims the a/b/g card is "better" - it does require more attention - just scan this forum for multiple complaints about it, similar to my experience. The Intel card just works - like it's supposed to - and at the end of the day I think that's all that really counts. Unless you need 802.11a, I wouldn't lose sleep over not getting the a/b/g card - the Intel b/g is a great card that works very well and I'm very happy with it.
wi-fi a acecss point?
Noel,
I'm interested in the make and model "a" access point you are using.
I have a wi-fi a network at home and will be buying a T42 with a/b/g card.
I have a wi-fi a router, but the signal is sometimes weak.
Thanks.
