pre-logon feature without installing proset client?

#1 Post by aoshea » Thu Jan 25, 2007 4:33 am

Dear Experts,
I've recently installed a wireless solution in our office, it consists of two Cisco ap's, Microsoft ias and cert server and ibm t43, t42 & t60 laptops. (Had to change the roaming aggressiveness for them to authenticate properly). Everything is working fine, we have a secure wlan and a guest wlan.
however i have the following issues;
When users laptops are in the docking stations on their desks, and both the wireless and wired LAN connections enabled, it appears to be preferring the wireless as observed when doing file copies. Is there anyway to change this other than FN F5 and switching off the wireless?

Secondly I would like to implement the pre-logon feature that I believe is enabled in the full intel proset client. This is to allow users to login to AD via wireless and run login scripts. Is there anyway just to do say a registry change rather than install the full client on all laptops?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Best regards, Adrian.

IBM Access Connections does everything you need and more, plus you can centrally admin it and lock it down.

it will auto-disable wireless when a machine uses a wired profile... when they pull off the dock and walk around it will make them wireless again... and it does logon screen signin.

Many thanks for helping me out, currently we have around 20 laptops, which are mainly t43. We are just using the windows native wireless networking for secure connections, I used AD and group policy to push out the configuration to all the laptops (i.e. preferred wireless network / use 802.1x / validate server cert using root cert / use EAP-MSCHAP-V2, etc).
If I start using the 'IBM Access Connections' utility will this override the previous setting, or should I be able to reconfigure via group policy?
Will I also need to install the Intel PROSET software to support the 'IBM Access Connections' utility?
Thanks again your help is appreciated.
Best regards, Adrian
