T41 Graphics Driver + Vista = Bluescreen
T41 Graphics Driver + Vista = Bluescreen
We're testing Vista on our various Thinkpads, and on the T41s (with ATI graphics) the current driver (released this month) causes Vista to bluescreen. Has anyone else experienced this? Any workarounds yet?
Thanks,
Ben
Thanks,

current video driver for Vista? Last I knew they were just using built-ins, that's all I could do for my FireGL T2 on Vista.

no driver will raise it above 1 cos T41 do not feature DX9 (shader model 2.0) capable graphics adapters (except for T41p)bfineman wrote:You're right, it was the XP driver. I guess we'll have to be patient and see if they ever release compatible drivers that might bring our graphics rating above 1.0...

Re: T41 Graphics Driver + Vista = Bluescreen
I'm just curious...considering the resouces required for Vista and MS's track with new OS releases, why are so many people experimenting with Vista on older TPs?bfineman wrote:We're testing Vista on our various Thinkpads, and on the T41s (with ATI graphics) the current driver (released this month) causes Vista to bluescreen. Win XP is a well developed and generally very stable OS and coupled with the fact that TPs are designed for business users...I just don't see any real advantages to go to Vista on older hardware that will require completely new drivers, I think it is just asking for trouble (IMHO)...
I've personally found issues with new drivers under Win XP SP2 but have fixed at least one by rolling back to older driver (and it was the ATI video driver).
I'm not sure that will be possible with Vista since there aren't any "older" Vista drivers for Win XP hardware...you either use what they give you or you reinstall Win XP...
