"lost" my M key

#1 Post by Paul Unger » Tue Sep 14, 2004 4:14 am

Booted up this morning and my 'm' key didn't work . . . Well, it would minimise open windows, but I couldn't type the character in a document. I opened the IBM keyboard application (where I have the Right Alt key assigned as the Windows key), thinking there might be a whacky key assignment, but there was nothing out of the ordinary there. I also got a 'sticky keys' message, but I know I hadn't pressed the shift key 5x. And then, without doing anything (that I was aware of), it began working again. So I'm confused! Does anyone know what happened to my 'm' key?!

I'm curious if awolfe was speaking in English?????

Did you try opening the PC-Doctor diagnostics and runing the keyboard test? Can you use the keyboard customizer utility to map another key as M and get that mapped key to work? Can you try removing/reseating the keyboard cable?

Odd problem! Good luck...
