No Cd/DVD drive when USB wheel connected

#1 Post by Grim » Tue Jan 30, 2007 6:44 am

I got a USB wheel/peddle toy for my birthday (I'm 39 going on 9)

Installed game, installed wheel, ran game, everything was perfect. my driving was a little erratic, but the electronics was fine.

Next day, started up the machine, clicked the game icon, and it asked me to insert the cd. wasn't in the box, so i popped the cd drive, and there it was.

mmmmmmmmm

went to my computer, and no D: drive listed.

Being really clever 8) i unplugged the wheel, and rebooted. and there was my cd. plugged in the wheel and off it went.

sooooooo, if I boot with a USB perifferal plugged in, I loose the CD/DVD.

I will confirm the wheel in question, and try it with other USB equipment.

Anyone experienced this before, and better still have a fix? it's so much hassel having to unplug a usb device

cheers

I start up with USB devices plugged in sometimes and I've never had this problem. Make sure it is not that particular device causing it.
