T41p processor upgrade

#1 Post by hox » Wed Sep 15, 2004 2:01 pm

Can you upgrade the 1.7 ghz bania processor in t41p to the faster Dothans? I know several notebooks can take either chip type.

Thanks

Yes you can. Actually, if you go under this Intel site:

http://www.intel.com/performance/mobile ... onfigc.htm

Look at table 4 under "Vendor and Model." They are all Thinkpads. Intel replaced a 1.7 Banias with a 2.0 Dothan. It can be done.

It means they put a Dothan Pentium M 755 into a T41p.

Hmm, Ok so how do you do this? Is it something an authorized IBM rep can do or is it a warranty voiding do it yourself project?

Does the 1.7ghz chip just pop out and its easy to put in the 2.0ghz..
