Mini-dock Audio Output Jack doesn't disable T41p speakers
When using my Mini-dock (#2878) audio output jack, it doesn't disable the T41p internal speakers.
Is this a "feature" or a "bug" in my unit?
Am I missing a magic control panel somewhere? (IBM has so many....)
Trés stupide if it's a "feature"....

It's a quirk. To disable the internal speaker, you have to plug the audio cable into the Thinkpad's audiojack. Yes, it kind of defeats the whole point of having a dock.

in doubt...
Let me see if i understand: There is NO workaround, fix, magic solution at all to this "bug"? I have the same problem on my T30,using the Port Replicator 02K8669 who came with my old T20...is pretty annoying to have all cables organized and plugged in back of port replicator , and when i detach the system, i need to unplug the speakers cable from headphone jack...

I just got my Mini-Dock today and I noticed the same thing as well. It is really annoying not being able to control the volume right from my keyboard, but it isn't too much of a hassle becuase I have a control for my 2.1 system anyways.
The only recommendation I have for you is to use your keyboard controls to turn the volume all the way down and you won't hear your thinkpad speakers anymore. However, the mute button still works to turn off the external speakers, so I find this feature kind of odd, but helpful none the less.
Now that I think about it, it kind of gives me a center speaker for my system
