String of bad luck, a little help maybe.

I recently had my T42 *2378-FVU replaced because of a bad motherboard. The new notebook I received was great until I noticed a red dot on the screen. I realized it was a burnt pixel, right in the centre of the screen. I had my Laptop hooked up to a BELKIN mini-dock, a couple of hours prior to noticing the bad pixel. Do you think that the Belkin mini-dock may have contributed to the damage, coz I had my VGA port used by the device.

My second question is, if I do switch it out, can I just wait for the new system and switch the HDs, coz all my data (6GB) is on that drive? Or will it mess things up for the new system.

Good luck getting IBM to switch your display because of one bad pixel. It usually takes 11 to get them to do this. However, you might be able to claim that all was good before they worked on the laptop, switching out the mother board and after they did that, the pixel was bad...in other words, they did the demage. This might work. None-the-less, when you send in your ThinkPad again, pull the HDD out before you send it in. They don't need it to work on your machine and you don't want them to have it anyway. They won't replace the screen because of 1 bad pixel. But you might be able to get them to replace the replacement computer if you just received it (?)
