don't work hibernate after suspend

#1 Post by AdaSch » Mon Feb 19, 2007 5:05 pm

Hi,

I have problems with my two t43p (every bios), and t40 with bios higher over 2.xx

When set profile in power manager (work on battery) go to suspend after 1 mins and hibernate after 2 min my t23 work like this:

After 1 min go to suspend
After 2 min t23 wakeup and go to hibernate

T40 with bios 2.xx work like t23

T40 with bios 3.xx and my two t43p work like this
After 1 min go to suspend

After 2 min I hear short start adn stop hdd and my 3 diffrent laptops don’t wakeup!!!

theoretically not problem but… power consumption (in still suspend mode) is increased to 0,3A !!!!

And battery don’t work so long… in "suspend mode… "

any ideas?

I have some strange hibernation issues as well. Is set to hibernate on power ( press), but it might not, still if I Fn+12 it will. After some time it will refuse to hibernate at all (and will go to stand-by instead) untill reboot. Newer had this problem with T22 and 98SE. Few times [censored] thing hanged up instead of hibernating, so before I go to sleep, I make sure the thing goes to (manually).

Same on T40 and X40. Won't reliably hibernate after suspend, especially when on AC power.

Example; closed lid is set to suspend (works every time), after 1 hour of suspend it should hibernate (doesn't happen).

Found the fix on this forum!

To correct, a BIOS setting needs to be modified.

In the BIOS, go to CONFIG, then POWER, then TIMER WAKE WITH BATTERY OPERATION, and ENABLE this setting. You'll get a warning, but you should enable it.

This permits the machine to wake from suspend and hibernate according to the Windows power settings.

Works on both my T40 and X40.

This answer should be in a STICKY!!!
