T40 battery

Hi
Does anyone know if there is safety cut of switch for the battery on a IBM T40 thinkpad cause for some reason my battery has just stopped working can anyone help ?

I just put in a new clock battery from a T430s. Everything matched up(polarity,connector,etc.) and it still keeps forgetting the time and date...

Just picked up an ultrabay battery and it seems to work good. Only strange event is once the ultrabay battery is fully charged, the main battery...
