Have to reboot inserting hdd2

#1 Post by atter » Tue Feb 20, 2007 5:21 am

Can enybody tell me why I have to reboot after inserting a password protected hdd in the ultrabay slot?
I have set the password in the IBM boot setup, but if I've used the dvd-rom drive and then inserting the hdd, I have to reboot before opening the drive in my-computer. Isn´t there anyway to avoid this?
I installed all the newest updates from IBM/Lenovo

Yah, I've found the same thing with my T41.

It's probably because the BIOS has to provide the password to unlock the drive (which only happens at boot-up time).

So either reboot each time you insert the password-protected ultrabay drive, or remove the password on just it.

I removed the password on my ultrabay drive but left a password on my main drive and now I can insert/remove my ultrabay drive at will (*after* I use the Safely Remove Hardware button in the system tray).

Does this help?
