NEED HELP: Windows XP reinstall HORRORS. No ehternet

#1 Post by thespeakerbox » Sun Feb 25, 2007 5:24 pm

I just did a fresh install of XP, but my ethernet wasnt working. I downloaded the ethernet drivers off lenovos site, unpacked, and installed everything --- but it still doesnt work.

The light where the cable plugs in is green, and it was just working in linux a second ago. So the hardware works. Windows just doesnt find it.

After installing and clicking the broadcom suite it says "No active Broadcom connectors found.

You unzip unpack the drivers but did you install them? Search the folder where you unpack them and run the installer if you don't have software installer in your machine you will need to install the ethernet drivers manualy.

Does Device Manager show the ethernet port? Look under "Network adapters" see if it's listed.

Make sure you're installing the correct driver.
Happened once with a machine i was building. There were 4 diff drivers and found it was an intel driver that needed to be used.
