TPM Password?

#1 Post by Czechnology » Tue Feb 27, 2007 12:01 pm

I'm really sorry if this is not the right forum but I'm not sure whether this is just a T43 thing, or a common one. I couldn't find the answer in Search nor Google.

I've updated the Fingerprint Soft (to ver5.6) and Client Security Soft (to ver8). Now after every restart the system tries to reconfigure the CSS and asks for admin password (no problem with that) and for the "owner password for the TPM" ("The Trusted Platform Module (TPM) on this system has been configured previously. Please enter the owner password for the TPM. If you do not know the owner password, you will have to clear the TPM using the BIOS Setup utility.")
I don't think I've ever set any password for TPM. What do I have to do? I tried enabling and disabling the TPM in BIOS (the only advice to the problem I've been able to find) but no change.
I'll be thankful for any help! It seems I can't use the password manager without that! :(

Rather than post it all here, press the Access IBM button or ThinkVantage button (whichever you have). When the Access IBM Help screen comes up, type security in the search box and read what is displayed for the security chip.

Yeah I've already run through these things.....
Setting the Security Chip

The choices offered in the IBM Security Chip submenu under the Security menu of the IBM BIOS Setup Utility are as follows:

IBM Security Chip: Enables or disables the Security Chip.

Security Reporting Options: Enables or disables each Security Reporting Option.

Clear IBM Security Chip: Clears the encryption key.
.....but in my BIOS there are just the first two choices. No clearing
:?

or I must be blind or stupid, checked it mutliple times.
btw, my BIOS version: 1.17

I solved it by doing shutdown my laptop completely. Then I did boot it, and cleared the password from Boise. :D
