T42 with ATI Mobility Radeon won't set at 1680x1050

I'm trying to use a Dell 22" widescreen monitor with my T42. The mini dock I am using has a DVI connector, but the monitor will not see anything via DVI. I guess this is because the T42 doesn't output DVI - Right?

Also, the native resolution on the Dell is 1680x1050, but I can't get this setting from the ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 card in the T42. ATI's site shows not updated drivers for the card. Any suggestions, or am I stuck with "non-native" resolution?
