With TPFan Unility my T43 used to run between 44 and 48 degrees when doing web browsing and idling.
Recently I accidentally kept my fan off while I played a game and the CPU hit a temperature of about 85'C. This happened twice over the course of a week. It was stupid.
Now my fan is always on and the temperatures of my GPU and CPU never fall below 50'C. In fact it only take about 30 seconds to reach 50 from the time I come out of a cold standby.
After reading few topics on the board it's up to 60'C.
Any idea what could have happened? Do I need new thermal grease? The laptop is only 9 months old.
Thanks for the help.

Hi,
The fact that you have gone high on temps in a few occassions should not have affected your TP's measuring in any permanent way.. this machines are protected against CPU overheat, and much before a serious damage happens, the CPU throttles back or just stops. (usually at around 90ºC)
So I would rather bet that you have made (maybe unknowingly) another change in the system, sucha s working now in 'max performance mode' where you where in 'dynamic switching mode' before or similar. Other than that make sure your fan is working at the same RPMs as before and it's clean.

I have not made any major changes to my configuration. I have my own personal battery settings that I have used for a long time.
Is there anything I'm particular I should check?
EDIT: I have finally found the problem. I've had a program running for the past few days that I accidentally left going in the background. For some reason I was stuck on an infinite loop or something which caused high CPU usage.
