Advices to get rid of keyboard creak?

#1 Post by agarza » Thu Mar 08, 2007 9:58 am

I put a video on Youtube detailing the creak sound I get when I slide my finger along the palmrest just below the right Ctrl key

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s90bQkVdO0I

It's very annoying that sounds, I'm wondering if there could be a fix to remove the noise completely and how are you people T4x keyboard in terms of if the palmrest make that noise with the keyboard.

Any input appreciated!

sorry but it's hard to tell from the video. it is a mechanical issue, or is it maybe the ordinary squeak that comes from the thinkpad system boards?

OK, I'll try to make a video with a Cybershot camera instead of my SE Walkman :P

I have same problem with my T41, there is some "give" to the palmrest so placing something underneath (post it notes?) should take care of it.

I try to ignore it (mainly because I don't know how to dissemble my keyboard/palmrest) but it can be annoying at times...

I had a similar problem with my T43. The problem was ameliorated by:

1) loosening the screws for the keyboard, sliding the keyboard as far away from the palmrest as possible, and then retightening the keyboard screws; and

2) Tightening some of the palmrest screws.
