Pixel question

#1 Post by kingman99 » Wed Mar 14, 2007 8:15 pm

Hi

When l received my T-40 l noticed on both sides of the screen some bright spots. I read that this is not dead pixels but sleeping pixels that have to be woken up.

The computer has not been used for awhile, should l try a softwear program or just return it?

thanks

Alan

I'm not aware of any software that can unstick stuck pixels. If there is such a thing, I want a copy, as my T41 has a stuck pixel in the upper right hand corner of the screen.

In the mean time, if it bothers you and whoever you bought it from guaranteed no dead or stuck pixels - send it back.

There are several programs that claim to fix dead or stuck pixels by rapidly cycling through colors:

Another method (I just did this yesterday and it worked fine) involves massaging you laptop screen but you need to be careful doing it. First, turn off your computer and then fold up a microfiber cloth and dampen one side with whatever you would use to clean your screen. Them, using a pen, pencil, or some instrument with a focused but still dull point, gently put pressure on the screen via the cloth (damp side on the screen of course). You want to try and avoid moving the pen (you may do damage elsewhere), but you can "rock" the pen back and forth, side to side (pm me if that doesn't make sense, I'll try to explain better). Turn your computer on with the pen still on the screen and then remove the pen. The idea is that you're "squeezing" some of the liquid in and around the pixel.

I'm pretty sure Lenovo has a policy on dead pixels, but I'm not sure about stuck pixels. Also, there is a required number before they'll replace the screen (assuming you're still in warranty). You might want to hunt around their support site or call.
