Which is the better video card?

Out of curiosity I was wondering generally which is the better video card, the ATI FireGL T2 128 mb card which IBM uses for the T42p or the ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 128 mb video card.

The 9700 will outperform the FireGL T2. However, the 9700 isn't certified for certain OpenGL programs whereas the FireGL is. It's up to you, but for gaming, the 9700 will always outperform.

What versions of opengl do they both support. Only reason I ask is I do some graphics programming, so more functionality would be better than performance for me.

Not sure why you ask. The 9700 isn't available on a thinkpad. What are you comparing - a T42p with a desktop?
