Going from stand-by to hibernate ...
Going from stand-by to hibernate ...
Hi,
I have a T41 with WinXP sp2 and I have the power save set to:
- 10 minutes => stand-by
- 15 minutes => hibernate
The machine will go to stand-by automatically but never hibernate.
I can manually force it to go stand-by or hibernate but the timer between these 2 states never kicks in.
Does anybody knows what I should check ?

Not sure why it is not working but do not understand why you would even want it to hibernete after 15 minutes. I leave mine in standby for daystranle wrote:Hi,

when you are on battery then I prefer to have my machine completely shutdown. When you are hook up to the power it does not really matter.

I leave mine on standby over night during the weekend without the power hooked up. In the morning I have only lost 3-4%.tranle wrote:Well,Greg Gebhardt wrote:...

For me standby is the standard all weekend when I might get on my laptop 10 times a day. It take too long to re-establish the wireless connection from cold boot or hibernation. Connection with the Cisco Aironet takes only seconds from standby.

I am losing MUCH more
As in another post I just made, I lose about 75% overnight. Any reason why there might be such a drain?

Re: I am losing MUCH more
If you loose 75% overnight in suspend, there must be a problem. I will put mine in suspend at maybe 8pm and wake up around 9am the next day and maybe have lost 4 to 5%. I do this every weekend and get the same result.nikemen wrote:As in another post I just made, I lose about 75% overnight. Any reason why there might be such a drain?

As another data point, and to further confuse the OP, my 2373-8CU T40 will remain in standby for 4 to 5 days on the 6 cell battery. The 9 cell battery will go for more than a week.
