Cannot enable 'hibernation' in Power Management
Cannot enable 'hibernation' in Power Management
Here is my problem:
I use XP Pro. When I launch the Power Management program that came with my T43, I see that the 'hibernation' box is unchecked. When I check the box and then press "apply", the hibernation box automatically unchecks itself. As a result, I cannot hibernate.
This problem only started a few months earlier, before that I had no problem hibernation.
I also know that all my IBM drivers are up to date.
Can anyone shed some light on this? I spent hours reasearching online but no luck.
Thanks in advance

No I didn't change ram (but now that you mentioned it I do recall the hibneration stopped working after I dropped the laptop).danage wrote:did you change the ram in your machine? does your hard drive have enough space left? did you update/change the power management drivers?

I just encountered the situation that MS KB#909095 fixed: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/909095. I upgraded to 1.5 GB ram a few weeks ago, but just got the "Insufficient System Resources Exist to Complete the API" error message this week. Not only would my computer not enter hibernation, but the tab in "Power Options" was completely gone! I applied the patch and things have been fine since. Dunno if it will help you, but it might be worth looking at.

I've used that patch too since I had 2 GB RAM and I could not hibernate.Paul Unger wrote:I just encountered the situation that MS KB#909095 fixed: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/909095. Now to address the OP. You might not have sufficient HDD space for the hibernation file 'hiberfile.sys'.
I remember 4GB being blocked when I had hiberfile.sys & pagefile.sys (paging enabled)

HI all,
after updating the latest stuffs through System Update I have the same problem on an X60. I tried to fix this issue today (I lost 12 hours) but no success..
ACPI drivers seems OK, but Thinkpad power manager unchecks the "Enable hibernation checkbox" when applying the changes
When I unistall Thinkpad's Power manager, the original one does not show up hibernation checkbox when running "powercfg.cpl"
no hardwares were changed in my laptop at all.
Any idea?

hehh, I solved the problem for me : I have manually downloaded this file : http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-61583
(do not reinstall the existing power manager)
and after restart "enable hibernation" was checked and "hibernate & Stanfd by" appeared in shut down menu
But why I don't know.
