T42 Bluetooth Woes
T42 Bluetooth Woes
Hey Everyone,
Just wanted to start out by saying I made a bad decision this afternoon, and after following the instructions of a few people on various forums i decided to upgrade the firmware of my BMDC200 to the GenericCSR version patched for my card. I did this to attempt to get A2DP to work properly with my card in Vista. After the patch I have experianced some issues with my BT card, the main of them being that my BT Indicator Light under my monitor has stopped working. The device can still be turned on/off via Fn+F5, but the light does not work. So I guess the main things I am looking for at this point is if anyone knows
a) where I can obtain an original firmware dump for this card so i can restore it (yes I was dumb and didn't make a backup first)
or
b) a way to make my BT light work with the GenericCSR (v829) firmware.
As for the next issue I am having. I am currently running Vista and the Widcomm 5.1.0.1100 stack. I own a set of Motorola HT820 bluetooth headsets that I want to use with A2DP. I see this card supports it, but I cannot get the 5.1.0.1100 stack to work with theis headphones, it keeps spitting out errors. I read in this forum that 4.0.1.2800/3000 were the kast stacks to support A2DP properly with this card. I guess the questions would be, Can I run 4.0.1.2800 in Vista, and if so what would the dissadvantages be and where can i get this old version.
I was able to successfully use BlueSoleil 3 with the BMDC200 and get a stero A2DP connection with my BMDC200 in Vista, but it was a trial version (limited to 5Mb) that I downloaded on a forum about this issues, and when I contact IVT in attempts to purchase it they say v3 does not exist and that they only sell v2.3 (non Vista compat), so i have no idea what to do here. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

p.s. Sorry if this is in the wrong area. I debated between T4x and General for a while. Mods, if it is in the wrong area, please feel free to move it.

Bülo, you are my hero! The light is working perfectly again, thank you!!!
I notice you have posted on other forums about this card and A2DP before with the same headphones I have (ht820), I was wondering, do you have any stack reccomendations for Vista so I can use my stereo headphones? (preferably at the same time as my BT mouse and DUN cellphone)
Thanks!

I don't use vista, but try the Toshiba Stack posted here.

Wow, you got A2DP to work with T42 using Toshiba stack? How's the quality of music streaming?tpmwr wrote:Yeah, I actually tried that out last night and it works GREAT! Thanks for all the help man!
I have been using Toshiba stack v3.20 for a long time on my T42, but don't have an A2DP device to test with.

So I had been using Widcomm 5.1.0.2100 and could not get A2DP working on my Motorola HT820 in stereo, only in mono. It did, however, allow me to browse and transer files to and from my Motorola V3c cell phone via FTP.
I tried bülo's suggestion of using the Toshiba stack and voila! Instant A2DP in clear, crystal stereo to my HT820. "My Bluetooth Places" is now gone from my desktop, however, and I cannot innitiate any sort of FTP connection to my V3c to transfer files.
Does anyone have any idea or suggestions on how I can have my cake and eat it, too?
At this point, I'd be more than willing to just replace my BDMC for a newer Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR version, but I can't find one anywhere on lenovo.com or ibm.com
Any help is appreciated.
