Need T42p Board

#1 Post by TDC » Wed Mar 21, 2007 2:25 pm

I have a T42p Type 2373-kyu that the board doesn't work anymore. I was wandering if a t43 board would work in it.

most likely, yes..

if it fits.. and there is no reason i can think of it would NOT fit..

the part numbers might be different due to different manufacturers..

but the keyboards are, generally, the same, for the T40 series..

I would add a couple of points to the "it will probably fit" statement. T43 motherboards take PC4200 memory, which is DDR2. The PC2700 memory (DDR) from the T42 will not work. The HDD in the T42 will probably generate the "pain-in-the-[censored]" 2010 BIOS error. If the T43 board comes without a CPU and fan, you probably need a T43 fan and you may want a CPU. There may be other differences, but I cannot think of any off the top of my head.

Wich makes me wonder:

Do you mean System board or Key board ?

Darkmark: Looking at your post, it is obvious that BillMorow and I read the question differently.

T43s use different pc card/pcmcia than the T42s and below.

Just curious but what happened?

Here's the problem when you turn the laptop on the screen comes on fine but after a couple secs it flashes then gets lines all through it so i'm thinking the video chip could be bad as i pu some as5 on the cpu. Model is 2373-kyu with 128 firegl video chip
